For people who gets their saves overwritten to default in the main menu, its just about write permission. I had to change RW in the save location to manage through it. You can download a save file (from somewhere else), load that will also have the same effect. I then just restart the game and can proceed naturally

I am on sequioa, though i havent really played the game beyond claiming dlcs which always gets reset previously
